The Rural Smiles Foundation (RSF) is currently inviting passionate, skilled, and committed individuals to apply for remote volunteer positions to support our Gender and Social Inclusion portfolio. These opportunities are ideal for individuals who are dedicated to advancing gender justice, equity, and inclusion and are looking to contribute meaningfully to rural-based grassroots initiatives in Uganda.
About the Rural Smiles Foundation
The Rural Smiles Foundation is a youth-led nonprofit organization legally operating in Uganda with headquarters in Kibaale District. RSF works to promote and advance health, digital, and economic rights for vulnerable and marginalized communities, especially in rural areas.

Why Gender and Social Inclusion?
Despite policy commitments, rural Ugandan communities continue to face deep-rooted gender inequality and systemic marginalization of women, girls, and people with disabilities. Our Gender and Social Inclusion programming seeks to:
Address structural inequalities and discrimination
Promote inclusive community development
Build capacity for gender-transformative change
Advocate for policy and cultural shifts to protect vulnerable groups
Your volunteer engagement will support RSF’s ongoing work to ensure that no one is left behind.
Volunteer Role Description – Gender & Social Inclusion Volunteer (Remote)
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research and prepare briefs, blogs, or knowledge products on gender equity, social justice, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion
Support the development of gender-mainstreamed project proposals, policies, and frameworks
Assist in drafting donor communications, reports, and strategic advocacy content
Contribute to stakeholder mapping, partnership development, and global engagement
Help coordinate online campaigns, webinars, and awareness initiatives
Support the review of RSF’s internal practices to ensure inclusive, non-discriminatory operations
Advise on ways to integrate intersectionality and diversity in community-based programming
Time Commitment:
Minimum of 4–8 hours per week
Flexible scheduling with weekly/bi-weekly virtual check-ins
Location:
Remote (open to applicants worldwide)
Eligibility and Qualifications:
Passion for gender justice, women’s rights, and inclusion of marginalized groups
Educational or professional background in gender studies, social work, development, human rights, law, communications, or related fields
Strong writing and analytical skills in English
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines remotely
Experience in feminist advocacy, GBV issues, SRHR, or anti-discrimination work is highly valued
Previous experience with grassroots, youth-led, or community organizations is an added advantage
